Want To Do List:

Keep Bees...Make honey...candles...wax creations etc...

Make Wine and Beer (with some of that honey!)

Can Foods...Farmer's Markets!

Make my son a mobile

Roast my own coffee

Learn how to garden

Refurbish/upholster furniture

Paper mache everything

Make liqueurs and extracts

Make essential oils and infused oils

Make candles

Make cheese

Crochet

Music

and the list goes on...

I think I could do most of this...but they all require some sort of start up, so I will begin with the things I already have tools for or are somewhat inexpensive. Plus, I can never accomplish as much I think I'm going to with my wonderful little ones around. They are great helpers though. I'd like to include them in all of these processes, to some degree.

I'll start with canning and cheese. I'm looking into buying some bees too...and finding someone who will bee sit.

...and there's always music

The Rental

Showing an apartment is like blind dating. You wanna find someone...the right someone. Someone calls, you speak over the phone, discuss your common interests. Things like bedroom size, utility costs, the neighborhood crime rate. You search their voice for any hint of interest and when you hear it...you entice them with things like distance to public transportation and freshly baked bread. Finally, you set a viewing date. You're nervous when you hear the knock. You exchange casual hellos, hoping they don't sense the desperation in your voice. You downplay obvious faults and upgrade the OK. After the walk through, you glance at the application and pen, hoping they'll be the one to bring it up. When it's all over you walk them to the door. They say, "I'll call." You hope they do.

After four of these blind dates, today, I'm plum tuckered out...

What has passed...

It's been over a year since my last entry. Since then, well, I got pregnant, moved out of our community house, and had my third child, Milo. Milo is a wee boy cuteness. He's my first thumb-sucker, first baby who cuddles, first one to co-sleep with mama for 3 whole months! He is a little joy ball and his older brother and sister, quite enjoy him.

After 3 years in the windiest of cities, My husband, K and I are calling it quits...on Chicago, that is. He's completing his third year at SAIC and we're up to our neck in student loan debt and we feel that the emperor has worn out his new duds. K will transfer to an Ohio school and get a job to save up for sweet property. We've been dreaming about building a little community/farm since the day we met. Growing food, making cheese, brewing beer, raising Alpaca! Last year we discovered the wonder of cob houses. Some day soon, we hope to get that piece of land and build our little cob or earth house village.

I'm so ready to be home again...
